Ive been extemely busy lately, basically working on NDA stuff exclusively.  Reallllly sucks not having time for your own creativity, but hey the Six Point Harness internship is going well. I love LA, its gorgeous here.  This morning I was looking through Dream Worlds and Hans Bacher's trees made me want to paint one in a similar style.  Quick 20 min sketch in between assignments at work.

In Los Angeles!

I finally landed in Los Angeles last week and its been good so far.  Still waiting for the roommates to arrive but I started at Six Point Harness yesterday and they have me learning Flash. If i'm allowed I will be posting some work from there on my other blog this summer.

These sketches were from life drawing class a few weeks ago. Also I seem to be double posting quite a bit as these life drawing sketches become more refined so eventually I will be phasing this blog out over to www.dansprogis.blogspot.com.  So if you like what I've been doing, add that one to your list!   Hopefully new stuff coming soon.

 Since this Life Drawing Session on March 29th I've been in a huge funk.  I got really sick the next day and since then I havn't been able to create anything worth while. This one is lingering too and I just cant seem to shake it.  I have about 3 weeks left until I fly out to LA for my Internship and I really hope I can get well and back into it before I start.

Life Drawings!

 So  this semester's life drawing class has been awesome so far.  Tim has just been great with pushing us in the direction that we want to take.  I really like the way Mark McDonnell does his costume life drawing, pushing character and caricature right on the spot, coming up with a new animated design as he draws. I find it extremely challenging to get something - anything good. Sometimes you just get in a groove and it comes, other times it doesn't. Right now I feel like im hitting a decent stride.  Last week was tough, but the week before with the cowboy was good, last night's costume X life was good too, and today's golfer was great.  I should have made the beer green in celebration of this weekend's holidays.  Anyway I hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!    San would say the hands need work, and I would agree.

New Character!

Based on a Gharial....Im doing a practice story based on the Ganges in India...probably wont go any further than the concept art/storyboard phase but it'll be fun to work on I think.  More to come.

Quick block ins from Life Drawings today with Acrylics, then i took photos of them....the photo quality wasnt great so I touched it up with photoshop.

Not a bad first shot at acrylics....not  huge fan of drying times but it helps getting me to paint faster.

Runaway Bride

Ah apologies to followers, Ive been seriously neglecting this blog.   We've been studying drapery in class this semester and it hasnt been easy for most of us.  Someday I will master it but it wont be any time soon. 

 

Also I started painting with some friends and great artists this week, Elaine and Cassy, check out their blogs!  Here's what I managed to do in an hour or so.

Just a dude walking outside of my apartment building...stopped what I was doing to sketch the poor guy lol.

The final painting looks a little different than this WIP image, I changed the design of the corn and some of the foreground overlays, the signs, more fog, the clouds are different and I took the second moon out.  Just play the video and you'll see :)
